You can see what the job involves and test out your skills with our 'virtual administrator'. (Don't take the results too seriously, though. It's not part of our selection process.)

The Roles

Whatever the administrative task you perform at SIS, it will have one purpose - to help protect the security and prosperity of the nation. Work doesn't get more worthwhile. Furthermore, our commitment to moving people regularly around departments - and the absorbing nature of what we do - means we can offer you an administrative career that's full of interest and variety.

You could join us in our HR department. Or managing records for one of our regional desks. Or in accounts. Wherever you start, you can rest assured you'll be given plenty of development. We like to grow our own people - helping them to develop their administrative skills. So whether you choose to stay with us for many years - or just a few - you'll really build your career with us.

Data entry is a vital part of the job. So you'll need computer skills, an eye for detail and strong powers of concentration. You'll also need to have a good level of basic numeracy to deal with everything from expenses to spreadsheets. As fluent with words as you are capable with numbers, you can write memos and edit reports in a clear style that's easy for everyone to understand. With a practical, calm approach, you can prioritise effectively - even when it gets busy.

As well as being able to put your hand to a range of tasks, you're always eager to learn new skills and lend a hand to your colleagues. You also feel strongly about helping to protect your country and will be committed to being discreet about your work.

People join us in these roles from all sorts of backgrounds. They may have decades of administrative experience behind them - or just a few months working in an office. What's important to us is the right skill set. Why not try our 'Virtual Administrator' to see if you have some of the talents we're looking for?

Our culture

There are few other organisations where everyone has such a strong sense of purpose - and pride - in what they do. Join us, and you'll find yourself part of a team that's chosen on merit and built on loyalty. You'll also find we give you a warm welcome. Our on-site facilities include a cafe and bar, as well as a gym and a library, so you'll find plenty of opportunities to get to know other people in the organisation.

As well as a wide variety of absorbing work, we can offer you a range of other benefits. We offer a good pension, discounts on a healthcare scheme, generous maternity pay, a subsidised children's holiday play scheme and at least 25 days' holiday. We can even help you find accommodation in London.
