TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

All new entrants join an induction programme which provides briefing on the organisation and IT training. After that, you can look forward to a combination of on-the-job training and structured training courses leading to formally-recognised technical qualifications.

We're serious about helping our employees gain the skills they need to meet the unique challenges of a career at SIS. Not only will we offer you training in your current area of expertise, ensuring you're right up to date, we'll also actively encourage you to branch out into new areas. Throughout your career our appraisal process will help map your personal development needs and training at regular intervals will help you meet those needs and maximise your potential.

Real variety is a hallmark of a career with us. We want our staff to be as deployable as possible, so the more skills they are able to develop, the better. In an organisation of our size, where IT plays such a vital role, there are ample opportunities to develop your career in a number of directions.

The emphasis in training is on enhancing your technical skills, but, as your career progresses, you may have the chance to spend time in other relevant areas of the Service or move into management.
