TRADES AND SERVICES - THE SKILLS

A helpful, can-do attitude, flexible approach and team spirit are the skills you'll need to join us in the Trades and Services Department. You don't need formal qualifications to join, although a clean driving licence is essential for our Driver and Security Officer roles as well as the Facilities and Maintenance positions. Experience would be an advantage in all the roles. You'll also need to be happy to work shifts and unsociable hours in many of the roles.

Security Officers:  It's not about brawn. It's about being alert, watchful and calm under pressure. You'll also be the first person to welcome visitors to the building, so you should have strong people skills too.

Drivers: On our Transport team you'll need to be adaptable as your job is varied. As well as being personable, with real tact and discretion, you're also willing to work unsociable hours.

Telephonists:   You will need to be patient, resourceful and focused on customer care. It's a busy place, so your flexible approach, keen attention to detail and good humour will be invaluable.
