TECHNOLOGY

As a global intelligence gathering organisation, SIS couldn't operate without its technology team. We ensure the security and effectiveness of an international communications network operating in nearly every country in the world. We make sure that all intelligence is stored in a way that optimises its usefulness and guarantees its security. And we guarantee that everyone from Operational Officers in the field to Administration teams in London have the IT they need to do their job to the highest level.  Whatever your area of expertise, from Help Desk to Enterprise Architecture, we can offer you a varied IT career unlike any other.

Application Group:  We develop and support the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems on behalf of the Service. It's our task to buy, build, integrate and support computer-based software solutions (or applications). Development teams vary in size depending on the scale and complexity of the project requirements. People with experience in most mainstream languages and packages work here.

Technical Services:  We provide engineering support for all core network, data and telephony ICT services. These include: hardware and software installations and maintenance in the UK and overseas (voice and data systems); engineering projects (internal and external); network design; engineering records and the Service asset register; engineering authority for ICT installations home and overseas and, finally, technical security.

Enterprise Management:  Responsible for all day-to-day live service management functions, we sit at the heart of ICT Services within SIS. These functions include the provision of a Global Help Desk, Computer and Communications Centre Operations, Technical Support Services, a Test and Reference facility, Business Continuity, ICT Training and Customer Service Management.

Project Management and Business Change:  Working on high-impact initiatives across the whole organisation with budgets from £500K to £5 million, you'll help shape the future direction of IT within the Service. Our objectives are constantly evolving as the threats to the UK change shape. You'll help ensure that our IT services are always ready to help combat these threats effectively.

Enterprise Architecture: The Enterprise architecture team is responsible for ensuring the coherency of the family of architectures which underpin our ICT, including operational or business architecture, foundation application and technical architecture, information architecture and security architecture. This group ensures compliance of new projects and keeps a technology watch out to five years and our architecture perspective out to three years.
