Operational Officers
Our Operational Officers collect, produce and deliver intelligence. Working both at home and overseas (in the majority of cases in stable areas of the globe) they perform a range of roles as outlined below. For all these positions, you'll go through the same Operational Officer application process, which will determine which of these jobs you're most suited for.
Case Officers: These officers plan and carry out covert intelligence operations overseas. Spending time in London as well as abroad, they gather the secret intelligence the Government needs to promote and defend UK national interests. We are particularly interested in people with skills in Mandarin, Arabic, Dari, Farsi and Pashto.
Targeting Officer: These officers use their analytical skills to build up intelligence pictures of different areas of interest, identify sources and contribute to operational planning. They may be posted overseas.
Reports Officer: You will become a subject matter expert on a geographical area or specific topic, such as terrorism or proliferation, evaluating the information our Case Officers have collected and then presenting it in accurate, impartial reports to Whitehall. Most of these roles are based in London, and also involve working with Government colleagues and Case and Targeting Officers to define the objectives of future intelligence gathering operations.
We are currently looking to fill a variety of Reports Officer vacancies. Find out more about the roles on offer and the skills you'll need here.
Prospective applicants interested in the Reports Officer role, but who lack the requisite experience for these specific vacancies, should apply instead to the Operational Officer stream.
