NETWORK/DATA TELEPHONY ENGINEERS
£25,133 - £37,925

In these roles, you'll be installing and maintaining a range of technical systems, from TCP/IP computer networks to encrypted data-links. Furthermore, you could also be involved in the installation, servicing and modification of a host of different kinds of hardware from servers, hubs and fibre optic devices, to satellite and TV receivers, infrared data links and telephone systems. Whether you're providing technical support for users, maintaining the highest levels of security or customising hardware, these are varied roles where you'll have the chance to learn a great deal and develop fast.

We'll need you to have data or telecommunications skill sets. (If you're versed in both areas, that would be ideal). In terms of technical know how, you'll need to have a basic knowledge of TCP/IP, XP, Unix and Microsoft Windows NT, 2000 and 2003. Above and beyond this, you have a practical, hands-on approach and have shown you know how to build, upgrade and repair PCs - either at home or in a professional capacity. Finally, you're a clear communicator, who can help all users get the most out of their IT, whatever their level of technical expertise.

As well as these essential skills, there are a range of other types of technical knowledge that would be extremely useful in these roles. These include experience of encryption or ciphers, as well as a technical helpdesk background. Any of the following qualifications would also be highly desirable; CompTIA A+ Certification, CompTIA Network + Certification, CCNA, CCNP, MCP, MCSA and MCSE.
