Language Specialists - Application Process
First familiarise yourself with the Nationality and Security criteria. Unfortunately, no matter how good your submission is, we won't be able to accept it unless you meet these criteria, so please check.
The next stage is to apply for a Language Specialist role online. This will involve filling in a form with a large amount of personal factual detail, and answering the all-important competency section. This is your chance to show how you've displayed the behaviours and strengths that we're looking for in this role and is the part of the form where you can prove to us exactly why you're right for the role. You'll also need to fill out a large questionnaire detailing your current level of skills.
Next you'll complete a telephone interview, then a language test day, and a face to face interview. Your test days and interviews of course, are also a chance to find out more about SIS and ask any questions you may have. If you are successful at this stage, you will move to the final stage of recruitment, which is security and medical clearance and reference checks. This is an in-depth look into your life, including your finances. We'll also ask you to have a medical and take a drugs test. Security vetting, which we're sure you'll understand is essential in the interests of national security, takes at least three months - and the whole application six months or more.
