INFORMATION SPECIALIST
Starting Salary from £25,133
We are looking for a dynamic, proactive Information Professional for an exciting and challenging post in an organisation that values the use of information and specialist skills. Your particular role will be to use your expertise in research and reference enquiries using commerical databases, in-house open source resources, hard copy and the Internet, to support SIS's role in its collection of secret foreign intelligence in support of the British Government's policies and objectives. You will initially be part of a central team that provides a service to SIS in finding open information; setting up alerts; providing a library service and supplying open source resources through an intranet. There may also be opportunities to use your wider information management skills in, for example, content management of an intranet or information standards.
You will need to demonstrate both your ability to find information online, and indexing and retrieval skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and customer focussed skills are essential and you should also demonstrate your competency of working in a team. An interest in and knowledge of foreign affairs would also be useful.
You should have a professional qualification in information science or librarianship recognised by CILIP. We also offer active support to individuals wishing to achieve Chartered membership of CILIP.
