Reports Officers

SIS is looking to fill a variety of Reports Officer vacancies. Here you can find out more about the roles and the skills you need to join us as a Reports Officer. For all of these positions, you will go through the same application process.

Prospective applicants interested in the Reports Officer roles, but who lack the requisite experience for these specific vacancies, should apply instead to the Operational Officer stream.

THE ROLES

We require several officers to enter directly into senior grades. They will be expected to liaise directly with our most senior customers in Whitehall, to manage operational teams and to be the Service's principal authority on a given subject. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience and excellent communication skills in order to prove their ability to perform in these challenging roles.

SIS also has vacancies for Reports Officers to enter directly into our mid-level grades. These officers will be expected to become subject matter experts on a geographical area or specific topic, such as terrorism or proliferation. They will evaluate the information our case officers have collected and then present it in accurate reports in order to provide the clear, impartial intelligence the government needs to shape its policy. They will liaise with government colleagues in Whitehall to ensure that SIS is focused on the latest requirements and delivering the intelligence our stakeholders require. They will also work closely with case officers and targeting officers in SIS to define the objectives of future intelligence gathering operations. Successful candidates will be expected to display an incisive mind, a proven ability to master complex briefs and strong communication skills.

The roles are primarily London-based, although many will offer opportunities for regular trips overseas. Successful applicants will be expected to perform a number of roles, dealing with a variety of subjects, throughout their career.
