DIVERSITY PROFILES

Patricia (Corporate Services)

I've been at SIS for nearly two years now. It's my role to help carry out the vital security checks that are essential to keep our people - and the information we collect - safe.

I have a visual impairment, but it doesn't impact on my work, as adjustments have been made to my work environment to help out. Alterations have been made to the IT equipment so that I can carry out my job efficiently. Training has also been adapted to ensure I don't miss out.

Andrew (Senior Manager, Corporate Services)

I have been in SIS for over 25 years and I've had a really varied career. I started out on the graduate training scheme, working first as a Specialist Officer and then doing a number of operational support jobs, before electing to move into the administration side of things. I am now in charge of internal review and consultancy.

It's a real meritocracy here. Wherever you start off in the Service, you can develop your career in a number of directions - there are many rewarding jobs that are important even if not directly linked to collecting intelligence.

As someone who wears a hearing aid in each ear (and I have done so since birth), I find that this is an environment where there is both support and camaraderie, where care is taken to help you achieve your potential and there is a real recognition that we can all play a key role in contributing to the Service's success.
