INVESTIGATORY POWERS TRIBUNAL
RIPA 2000 also established the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT). This investigates complaints by the public against the agencies. Like the Commissioners, the IPT are drawn from the judiciary or are lawyers. They can ask the Intelligence Services Commissioner to assist in providing SIS information which they need to see. They visit SIS headquarters to investigate complaints. The current President of the IPT is Lord Justice John Mummery.
